The Health department will provide free medical checkup facility to all the flood-affected people returning from Chennai to Bengaluru.

Arrangements will be made for health checkups at Bowring Hospital, K C General Hospital, Victoria Hospital and Jayanagar Hospital.

A toll-free helpline has been set up - 18004250235 - for the sake of the affected people, Health Minister U T Khader told reporters in Bengaluru on Monday. U T Khader said he spoke to his Tamil Nadu counterpart over the phone and offered help.

Liquid oxygen shortage
“The Tamil Nadu health minister said all was well and they had sufficient stock of medicine. He, however, said there was a shortage of liquid oxygen and we have kept it ready.

“We are ready to supply it, but the neighbouring state has so far not indicated as to where we should send it (liquid oxygen),” the minister said.

Ready to help
“We are offering help out of concern for the flood-affected people. We are not offering help in the interest of the Tamil Nadu government. The government (Karnataka) is ready to offer any help to the neighbouring state,” he said when his reaction was sought to the Tamil Nadu government’s initial reluctance to accept assistance from Karnataka.
