A man was arrested along his associates for abducting his nephew for ransom.
The suspect was identified as Harish Kumar Jain, a resident of RPC Layout, Vijayanagar.

The police also arrested one of the abductors, identified as Mohammad Moinuddin.  A search operation has been launched to arrest Ganesh and two others for the abduction, said the police.

Harish Kumar Jain has an elder brother who has a son named Amit Kumar. They all hail from Rajasthan and run a jewellery shop in Shamanna Garden, Vijayanagar. Harish Kumar (25) and Amit Kumar (27) graduated together and now look after their family business, said the police.

According to the police, Harish wanted some money to invest in an initiative, but his father refused to part with the money. Hence, he decided to abduct Amit Kumar, make ransom calls to his father, collect the money and release Amit.

He arranged for five persons to take Amit with them to Mysuru, Mandya and Madikeri.  As per the instructions given to them, they took Amit along with them, boarded a bus at the Satellite Bus Stand on Mysore Road and travelled to Mysuru, said the police.

Harish called up his father, modulated his voice and said that Amit had been abducted. He also demanded Rs five crore as ransom to set Amit free. Harish warned his father against informing the police.

Harish’s other brother, Kethan Kumar Jain, lodged a complaint with the police. Interestingly, Harish also accompanied Kethan to the police station.
