<p>An expert committee from University Grants Commission (UGC) on Friday launched the verification process in connection with the renewal of recognition of courses at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). <br /><br /></p>.<p>The committee, led by Prof H P Dixit, during its two-day inquiry will look into the grounds on which the KSOU was de-recognised and the merit on the basis of which the affidavit for recognition can be considered. The process, that began at 11 am, lasted seven hours on Friday.<br /><br /> On Friday, the committee comprising Dixit, Ajay Pandit, A S Narang and P Prakash verified the documents pertaining to research materials, certificates of the courses offered at KSOU, distance education-related documents, acceptance letters from the private institutions to run various courses and other related records.<br /><br />The committee further recorded the statement of KSOU Vice-chancellor M G Krishnan, Registrars P S Nayak and Prof K J Suresh (exam), Dean (Academics) T D Devegowda and Finance Officer Khader Pasha.<br /><br />The statement of Vice-chancellor of University of Mysore and previous VC of KSOU Prof K S Rangappa and MLC Go Madhusudan, who is vociferous in unearthing the irregularities in the varsity, were also recorded by the UGC committee. The inquiry will continue on Saturday too. <br /><br />“It is too early to conclude anything. A detailed report will be submitted to UGC after completing the verification process.” H P Dixit told reporters.<br /></p>
