A total of 7,500 hectares of land spread over 96 villages in Kamasamudra and Budikote hobli of the taluk, comprising 7,704 farmers are set to benefit from the scheme. The programme proposes to alter the sowing method. Weed control and yield would be enhanced to a great extent by sowing seeds with scientifically determined quantity of fertiliser.
A research by ICRISAT has confirmed that the yield could be increased by 20 pc with judicious use of micro and macronutrients. Sowing seeds, micronutrients, biomanure will be provided at 50 pc subsidy. Agriculture Department taluk director, in a press statement, has asked the farmers to make use of the opportunity.
