The songs of harmony

Last Updated 15 December 2015, 18:25 IST
Bells and baubles... cookies and carolling... stars and streamers... trees and tinsel... and woven through it all, the timeless tapestry of hope and healing. Christmas is all about traditions, as Glorious, the City’s own gospel youth choir presents through its signature choral celebration — ‘Once Upon A Christmas...’

A poignantly crafted cantata draws the listener first to be part of this saga, and then to share it with the world. Solos, duets and divine four-part harmony recount the captivating nativity story, redefining its relevance to our times.

Interspersed through the music are inspiring personal narratives of faith and restoration. Post Interval the festivities include a spectacular pageant by the 100-voice Glorious Children's Choir, much foot-tapping fun, and a heart warming invitation to experience the age old Christmas promise ...There is Hope...

Reji Chandy, founder director of Glorious reflects, “Bad news has quite become the order of the day. In fact, we have even become desensitised to the measure of despair, disaster and dread we each have to deal with on a daily count.”

“Our Christmas concert this year attempts to encourage the disillusioned listener not to be complacent about the shades of darkness that tinge our souls, but to reach through the dreary spectrum to the waiting vibrant life beyond. To believe that through the ‘Once Upon A Christmas...’, through the questions and the valleys and the tears, we are safe.”

The concert will be held on Decaember 19 and 20 at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan, Millers Road. Tickets are available in ELS, OM Books, The Olive, Pauline Books, The Book Room, Sanctuary, Bangalore Baptist Hospital, Glorious Office. For details, call 25484004 or 8884511122.
