CPM member's 'agonising' wait to meet Home Minister

Last Updated 16 December 2015, 16:55 IST

For farmers’ leader and CPM member Maruthi Manpade, it was a tough task to meet Home Minister G Parameshwara at the Vikasa Soudha on Wednesday.

Parameshwara, who was in a hurry to leave his office, was blocked by Manpade, who had been waiting to meet the Congress chief for nearly two hours.

Despite repeated appeals to hear his plea, Parameshwara could not spare time for him. He asked Manpade to meet him at the Congress office on Queen’s Road.

An irate Manpade shot back at him saying he was not a Congress worker and that he had come to meet him to discuss a murder case. Parameshwara yielded when Manpade’s decibel levels rose, attracting the attention of those in the Soudha corridors.

The minister accepted Manpade’s petition, assuring him that he would look into it. Manpade has submitted a petition by the brother of a woman who was allegedly murdered by her in-laws in Kalaburagi.

The brother has alleged police negligence and appealed that the case be reopened.
