German woman gets 'Linga deekshe'

A German woman, who is in love with an Indian, from Karnataka, got her ‘Linga deekshe’ as a prelude to their wedding at Chandravana, near Srirangapatna, Mandya district, on Wednesday.

Bayateko alias Biyaa is in love with Madan. With the couple scheduled to tie the nuptial knot at Yashaswini Kalyan Mantap on December 27, they got the ritual performed in the presence of Bebi mutt seer Trinetra Mahantha Shivayogi Swami, as per Veerashaiva tradition.

Biyaa, who was attracted to Hindu culture and tradition was attired in a gold coloured silk saree and a dark blue blouse. Holding a small ‘Linga’, the couple recited the panchakshari mantra ‘Om Namah Shivayah’, on the occasion.

Madan’s parents Kantharaju and Shashikala and Biyaa’s mother Angarika Kothai were witnesses to the ceremony.

Love story

Madan, 28, a native of Sakleshpur, Hassan district, was working at the Bio Diversity International Research For Agriculture Company, in New Delhi, since five years.

Biyaa, 28, who was on a study tour on Indian agricultural practices two years ago, fell in love with Madan, and the couple decided to get married. When Madan informed his parents about his love, they agreed, but on the condition that Biyaa gets Linga deekshe. So, the ceremony was held on Wednesday, said Kantharaju.
