The AAP government has hit out at the CBI for reportedly leaking information to media on raids related to corruption complaints against a bureaucrat posted in the office of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to tarnish the latter’s image.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the Centre-ordered raid on bureaucrat Rajendra Kumar’s office in Delhi Secretariat on December 15 was to project Kejriwal in a bad light and indulge in politics over suspected corruption.

Sisodia, wrote to CBI chief Anil Kumar Sinha on December 25, to investigate as to who was trying to get negative stories against the AAP government done in the media.

“If you do not act promptly on my complaint, it would prove that the CBI is trying to tarnish the image of political rivals on the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” wrote Sisodia.

“I want to know if these news are being leaked at the behest of Modi, to whom the probe agency reports?” asked Sisodia, adding that an illusion was being created that the raids on the office of Kumar and Chief Minister’s Office had yielded five audio recordings that may force the probe agency to expand the scope of the probe.

“The sole purpose of leaking this false information is to defame the Delhi government, officials and the Chief Minister,” he wrote.

He said the CBI had resorted to dirty tricks as the December 15 raid on the CMO turned out to be a flop in unearthing any evidence related to alleged corruption cases involving Kumar.

If the information was being leaked at the lower level then accountability would have to be fixed in the matter, said Sisodia.
