Dayananda Reddy, a Congress rebel candidate and former MLC, suffered a humiliating defeat in Bengaluru in the Legislative Council elections.

Despite repeated requests by the party, he had refused to withdraw from the fray. According to him, the Congress won purely because of money and muscle power.

“Even 48 hours before polling, I was certain of winning the seat. But the Congress has won by bribing the electorate with Rs one lakh in cash and 150 gm silver coins. Innocent voters were made to take an oath to support the Congress.

In Bengaluru district alone, the Congress and the BJP have spent Rs 70 crore, all of which is black money. I have already registered a complaint with the Election Commission and I hope it will take a serious note of it,” said Reddy.
