Plans afoot to set up skills development centre in Muddenahalli

'Centre of Attraction' will be established with VTU support: Minister

Higher Education Minister T B Jayachandra on Thursday said that Higher Education Council has announced the ‘Centre of Attraction’, a skills development centre at Muddenahalli in Chikkaballapur district and that  the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has come forward to set up the same.

He said this addressing the gathering at an event to distribute compensation to the farmers who have parted with their lands to HAL helicopter unit at Bidarehalla Kaval in Gubbi taluk.

The Centre of Attraction skills development centre will be established aptly at the birth place of Sir MV, the minister said.

“There are many Indian scientists in aviation industry. The industry is generating huge opportunities. We are looking to tap opportunities in aviation industry.
Accordingly, we are formulating plans to provide necessary education and training in the said industry,” the higher education minister said.

The government has acquired 12 acres of land near Devanahalli. The said piece of land can be utilised for the development of hardware, software and for space industry, Jayachandra said.

Don’t succumb to realtors

With the heavy industries coming to the district, the real estate mafia is rearing its ugly head, the minister said and cautioned the farmers not to succumb to the pressure of realtors.

Deputy Commissioner K P Mohan Raj said that alternative lands have been given to the farmers who have parted with their lands to the HAL helicopter unit.

The district administration has fixed a fair price to the full-grown trees, borewells, if any, house among others. A compensation of Rs 1.46 crore will be distributed to 15 farmers, the DC said.

Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy, Tumakuru Rural MLA B Sureshgowda, ZP CEO B R Mamatha, Additional DC K N Anuradha, Assistant Commissioner Tabassum Zahera and others were present.
