Last Updated 31 December 2015, 21:53 IST

In a relief to commuters in Delhi and NCR, the government has decided to cut prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the National Capital Region (NCR) from Friday during non-peak hours.

“CNG in NCR will be available on cheaper prices at odd hours from 1st January”. Whereas the prices for CNG will be as usual during the even hours, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said here.

The amount of reduction in prices of the fuel per unit is not yet known.

There are around 325 gas stations in Delhi NCR, 96 in Delhi alone. The move is in line with the government’s efforts to explore options to promote usage of CNG to curb emissions and bring down the pollution level.

Apart from incentivising CNG refuelling during non-peak hours, the government is also exploring possibilities for incentivising CNG kit conversion.
