A 25-year-old lab technician fell to his death from the second floor of a two-storey building where he resided in Nallurahalli under the Whitefield police limits on Friday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Shiva Krishna, a native of Khammam in Telangana. He had come to the City a couple of years ago and was working for a private pharmaceutical company near Mahadevapura. He was residing in a rented house along with his friend Harshavardhan.

On Thursday, Krishna and six other friends had gathered to celebrate New Year. Around 9 pm, everyone was at his house. They were soon drunk and went to sleep after the party. Around 2 am, Krishna went out to take a phone call, but did not return, said the police.

The next morning, a neighbour saw him lying in a pool of blood on the ground near the gate. His friends shifted Krishna to a nearby private hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The police were alerted and his family was informed.

A police officer said, “We have visited the spot and one of his friends, who is also from Khammam has registered a complaint. It seems that he was talking on his mobile phone when the incident took place.”

“His friends said that he was on the phone for a long time talking to his family and close friends. He was very drunk and might have lost his balance and fallen to his death. We will question his friends and also examine his call records to ascertain if it was an accidental fall or suicide. Also, we are checking if footage of any surveillance camera is available,” the officer said.

“His family informed the police that he was recently engaged and the date for the wedding was about to be fixed,” added the officer.

A case has been registered at the Whitefield police station and investigation is being carried out.
