Asha Suresh has not resigned as corporator, says Mayor

Mayor B N Manjunatha Reddy has said that Congress corporator from HMT Layout, Asha Suresh, has not resigned.

A week ago, Asha Suresh had announced her resignation owing to alleged harassment and threat to life by her own party MLA from Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly constituency, Munirathna.

However, the letter she handed over to Mayor B N Manjunath Reddy inside the Council, read that she might resign if the situation persisted.

The mayor, in his statement to the press, has clarified that Asha Suresh had not resigned. Instead, she had drawn his attention to absence of civic works in her ward, which might force her to resign.

The mayor, in the statement also omitted the name of the person who allegedly harassed Asha Suresh.

Meanwhile, the Mahila Morcha (women’s wing) of the BJP has decided to stage a demonstration on January 9 against MLA Munirathna in front of the BBMP head office for “harassing” women corporators and not allowing them to work.
