SP rules out alliance in UP

Last Updated 12 January 2016, 19:49 IST

The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Tuesday ruled out any kind of electoral alliance in Uttar Pradesh and declared that it would go it alone in the next Assembly elections in the state, which is scheduled to be held early next year.

“We will not have any alliance in the next Assembly polls... we will contest the polls alone,” UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said on Tuesday virtually dashing all hopes of the SP joining any possible Bihar like “Mahagathbadnhan” in the state.

Akhilesh, in an informal chat with the mediapersons at Kanpur, said his government had undertaken several pro-people projects and launched many welfare schemes for the people during its tenure.

“We will seek votes from the people on the basis of the work we have done during our tenure... our main agenda will be development,” the chief minister said.
