If you happen to be around Padmanabhanagar and are looking to enjoy a variety of food with family or friends, then Bangalore Agarwal Bhavan is a good option to explore. The authentic vegetarian restaurant, started by Arvind Agarwal in 2011, is divided into two floors.

The ground floor has a self-service counter and customers can stand outside and enjoy chaats, ice creams, juices, sandwiches and ‘pav bhaji’. There is also a sweet and namkeen shop with specialities like kaju sweets, hot ghee Mysore Pak and Agarwal special sev. The first floor has a restaurant where people can savour North Indian, Chinese, tandoori dishes and assorted parathas.

For starters, one can relish items like ‘paneer manchurian’, ‘crispy fried veg coins’ and ‘ginger paneer dry’. The tandoori sizzler platter is also one of their recommended items. One is spoilt for choice when it comes to North Indian curries, the paneer gravies being their speciality. Dishes like ‘kaju masala’, ‘vegetable Hyderabadi’, ‘paneer tikka masala’, ‘kadai paneer’ and ‘paneer lababdar’ make for a satisfying meal with hot rotis and ‘naans’. In the rice preparations, go for the ‘Hyderabadi biryani’ or the spicy ‘BAB special biryani’ (with cashew nuts and special masalas). They also offer ‘thalis’.

Some of the suggested Chinese main course items include the ‘vegetable schezwan noodles’, ‘vegetable butter garlic noodles’ and ‘Chinese chopsuey’. The chaat section is quite fancy with variations like the cold ‘dahi anarkali chaat’ and ‘dahi rasagullah chaat’ as well as the hot, lip-smacking ‘garam samosa chaat’, ‘garam kachori chaat’ and ‘aloo tikki chhole’.

Stuffed parathas like ‘mix vegetable paratha’, ‘dry fruit paratha’ and ‘cheese corn paratha’ are ideal for winters while sandwich lovers can dig into the ‘cheese paneer grill sandwich’, ‘vegetable grill sandwich’ and many more along with a range of ice creams and shakes. Mostly frequented by families, Bangalore Agarwal Bhavan has two more branches in Frazer Town and HSR Layout, with another one coming up in Rajajinagar. The restaurant is open till 10.30 pm. While the sweet and namkeen shop opens at 9 am, chaat starts at 10.30 am and the restaurant begins at 11.30 am.

It is located at 283, Carmel Corner Building, Padmanabhanagar, Banashankari. For details, call 9379912345.
