Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that it was impossible to impose total prohibition in the State.

“Total prohibition could be achieved only if it is done nationwide. The concept will not be successful if a handful of states prohibit liquor,” Siddaramaiah said here on Sunday.

The chief minister said that Karnataka too would enact an anti-superstition law on the lines of Maharashtra. Care would be taken to ensure that the said law does not hurt any religious practice.

He said that as much as 1.32 lakh acres of land was required for implementation of the Upper Krishna Phase-III project and acquisition proceedings had been initiated in respect of 60,000 acres.

A sum of Rs 1,500 crore had been earmarked for paying compensation to landlosers in terms of the new Land Acquisition Act of 2013.
