Online post stirs cops into action

The City traffic police have decided to act against the driver of a Regional Transport Officer (RTO) for parking the official vehicle in the ‘no-parking’ zone.

The police decided to act based on a post by Waseem Memon, an IT professional, about the violation along with the picture on the Bangalore Traffic Police’s Public Eye page.

The incident occurred on January 12  at the entrance of KR Puram flyover around 9.45 am when Memon was on the way to his office.

The RTO’s vehicle was parked in the ‘no-parking’ zone blocking the movement of vehicles. There was nobody inside the car and Memon approached a traffic policeman who too had no clues. He took the snap of the vehicle and posted it on the web page.

Memon also sent an e-mail to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M A Saleem. The police said that the matter was being investigated and they would act against the driver.

Public Eye is a platform of the traffic police launched in 2012 to help people report traffic violations.
