Two bodies, including that of a woman in her early twenties, were recovered from two separate places in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on Thursday.

Around 9.30 am, police received information about the discovery of a woman’s body in Dwarka sector-5, in an under-construction building behind a central school.

“The body was half-burnt with its upper portion completely disfigured. We have sent the body for postmortem and are investigating the case by enquiring about its identity with the help of nearby people,” said a police officer.

“Prima facie the case looks like to be of murder by strangulation, with an attempt to hide the identity of the woman by burning her face. However, the actual reason of her death will be known only after post-mortem,” said police.

According to police, the body was found at a place where buffaloes are tied by the villagers. In the morning, when the cattle keepers reached the spot to feed the animals, they spotted the body and informed police.

In yet another case, a badly mutilated body of a man was found hanging from a tree in Dwarka-sector 10. The head was missing while the body was lying on the ground half-eaten by animals.

According to police, only some portion of the neck of the victim was hanging with a rope which was tied to a tree.

“The person is suspected to have died several days back,” said a police official. His age couldn’t be determined immediately.

It is suspected that after being murdered the body was first kept somewhere hidden and later hung on the tree to make it look like a case of suicide. However, the post-mortem report is awaited, said police.
