Marking the beginning of a New Year, The Oberoi, recently raised a toast by hosting an evening with some of Bengaluru’s Diplomatic Corps and Consulate fraternity along with key dignitaries from the Government of Karnataka. The evening saw a melting pot of cultures from around the world with the dignitaries and their family members.

This tradition of inviting some of the major influencers in the country at the beginning of the year started in the year 2012. With this eventful meeting, they hope to gel well with the communities for their future endeavours.

The guests were seen enjoying the evening by The Poolside as the servers moved around with trays of sparkling drinks and finger food to celebrate Indian flavours synergised with international favourites. It had the theme inspired from the enchanting city of Jaipur. The guests present were Torre Gomez, Canadian Consulate General; Jörn Rohde, German Consul General; Balz Strasser, Swiss Consulate General; Francois Gautier, French Consul General;  Irfan Vazirally, the honorary Consulate from The Netherlands; Asif Iqbal, the honorary Consul of Suriname; Jun-ichi Kawaue, Consulate of Japan and Dominic McAllister, British Deputy High.

Jun-ichi and Francois where very excited to be part of the event as they think it’s a great platform to bring everyone together. Francois said, “We’re glad that we’re here along with the other dignitaries. Since we all are busy with our own work, it’s great to see them on an evening like this. We look forward to a prosperous year and know that the country we represent will also be taken to great heights with the City we are in.” The dignitaries also discussed about bringing in new improvements to the City,  curbing traffic to be one of them.

Anshul Kaul, the General Manager of The Oberoi, said, “We started this tradition in the year 2012 and it’s growing strong every year. As everyone is busy with their work, this evening gives everyone a chance to come together and meet each other. Our aim for this evening is to generate new ideas and keep everything at place for the remaining year.”
With impromptu photo sessions and fun and laughter, the guests connected with each other and discussed greater collaborative ventures within the community and for the City.
