CAT order stayed

 
A division bench comprising Justices V Gopala Gowda and A S Bopanna directed the UPSC to continue with the recruitment process. On Nov 30, 2009, CAT had quashed clause 5 (3) of the Indian Administrative Service Rules, 1954 which excludes officers of the state civil service cadre who had reached the age of 54 years from promotion to IAS cadre. The order had annulled all the promotions made to IAS from January 1, 2007.
