The terror suspect who stabbed a constable and tried to commit suicide by swallowing a pebble is said to be on the most-wanted list of the NIA and Counter Intelligence of Cell (CIC) of Telangana.

Javed Rafiq, a suspected terrorist, was arrested during a joint operation by NIA and CIC. He was picked from his house in Parappana Agrahara on Saturday evening.

Rafiq had stabbed Srinivas, a constable of the Telangana police, and he also tried to commit suicide by swallowing a pebble.

“He is currently undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital and will be handed over to the NIA, which will take him to Delhi in a couple of days for further investigation. He was under the radar of CIC and NIA for the past eight months. We found his activities suspicious. His movements were tracked and we got to know that he is wanted in several terror-related activities,” sources said.

“We found that he was involved in a couple of bomb blast cases which took place in various parts of the country and was absconding for over 10 years. He came under the radar while we were trying to track several other people and now, he is the big catch for us,” said the sources.

“Rafiq has still not been questioned, as he is undergoing treatment. Only after we question him, we can tell which terror module he was working for and other related information.”
