Two policemen, on night patrol, were injured when a car rammed into them near Police Thimmaiah road under the Cubbon Park traffic police limits in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the police, around 3 am, Manjunath and Jayanna, constables attached to Shivajinagar police station, were on duty near Queen’s Road. They saw two persons riding on a two-wheeler without registration plates.
They tried to stop the two-wheeler but the riders sped away. The constables grew suspicious and tried to follow the two-wheeler. Unable to find the bike, they stopped their vehicle near Police Thimmaiah Road.
They were crossing the road when a speeding car rammed into them. Manjunath and Jayanna suffered severe injuries. The car driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Passersby shifted the injured cops to a nearby private hospital and alerted the police.
The police seized the vehicle, traced the driver and arrested him. The driver has been identified as Keshav. A case has been registered by the Cubbon Park police station.
