The South division police were on their toes when they received a call about a suspicious bag being found in front of Swami Anand’s ashram near Kamakhya in Banashankari  III Stage on Saturday morning.

They opened the bag only to find a few crackers and a letter.  According to police, at around 7.30 am, the Swami, an astrologer, came out of his ashram to go to the studios of a television news channel for a show on astrology.

As he came out, he found a box with a picture of him pasted on it. He alerted his staff, who informed the police about a suspicious bag being found in front of the ashram.

The police rushed to the spot and examined the box.  They opened it and found crackers. They also found a letter which warned the Swami not to talk too much about ‘Go Rakshana’ (protection of cows).

The letter said, “If you continue to talk about it, you will face dire consequences. We wanted to sacrifice you on January 14, but the plan did not work out. In a couple of weeks, you will be sacrificed for sure,” the letter said.

“It is the handiwork of a few mischievous elements and we are trying to obtain CCTV footage to identify who placed the box,” said the police. A case has been registered.
