A High Court advocate was assaulted after he broke into an arguement with a group of persons while parking his car near Central Library in Cubbon Park on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at around 10.45 am when advocate Srinivas was parking his car. A person driving a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), who was also trying to park his car at the same spot, rammed into the advocate’s car from the rear. The duo got out of their cars and got into an argument. The driver of the SUV, who falsely claimed to be a corporator from Hosakerehalli ward, assaulted Srinivas along with few other men. A group of advocates who witnessed the incident, rushed to help Srinivas, vandalised the SUV and deflated the tyres.   The police rushed to the spot and urged members of the public to maintain order. The group of advocates demanded that the police take immediate action against the person who was driving the SUV and his two aides.

A senior police officer said that the SUV driver falsely claimed to be a corporator from Hosakerahalli. But upon verification, it was found that there was no corporator by that name. “It seems that they have just dropped some name. We have the vehicle registration number and are trying to trace him,” the officer added. A case has been registered in Cubbon Park police station.
