Vinay spurs Kengeri Cricketers

C Vinay scored a quick-fire ton to propel Kengeri Cricketers to convincing six-wicket win against Bowlers Cricket Club in the KSCA Group I, Division V league-cum-knockout tournament for the JB Mallaradhya Shield here.

Batting first, Bowlers CC were restricted to 205 all out in 44.3 overs thanks to a decent bowling effort from Harish B (4/44) and Somashekar (3/27).

Chasing a modest total, Kengeri rode on Vinay’s 134 to ease to victory in 38.1 overs losing four wickets in the process. Vinay’s knock, which came of just 94 balls, was studded with 20 fours and two sixes.

In another encounter, Doorvani Cricketers (2) rode on an all-round show from their players to drub Young Cricketers (1) by nine wickets.

Young Cricketers managed to amass a paltry 164 all out in 43 overs. Mahendra bagged three for 30 while Suresh Krishnan finished with three for 46 in Doorvani’s fine bowling performance.  In response, unbeaten half-centuries from Manoj and Thimothy Christy sealed the game in favour of Doorvani. 

In another match, Palar Sports Club posted a convincing 129-runs victory against City Cricketers. Ashfaque Alam (79) starred with the bat while Vikas Sangwan (3/17) and Ishthiaque Mohammed (3/25) dazzled with the ball for the winners.

Young Cricketers (1): 164 all out in 43 overs (Indrasen 45, Atiqulla Khan 38; Mahendra 3-30, Suresh Krishnan 3-46, Sam 2-31) lost to Dooravani Cricketers (2): 165/1 in 36 overs (Manoj 54 n.o., Thimothy Christy 79 n.o.).

Palar Sports Club: 271/8 in 50 overs (Narendra P 41, Ashfaque Alam 79, Ajay Byanna 28, Rajesh Nair 25, Anuj Prasad 56; Abhinav 2-50, Vineeth 2-62, Deepak 3-36) bt City Cricketers (2): 142 all out in 38.1 overs (Deepak 32, Samarth V Nadig  35; Rajesh Nair 2-21, Vikas Sangwan 3-17, Ishthiaque Mohammed 3-25).
