A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was found dead in a garbage heap next to her house in Gopalappa Layout of Manorayanapalya under the Hebbal police limits on Thursday night.

According to the police, the baby girl, Trisha’s, parents are Seema Tamang, a house wife and Vijay, a cook at a hotel in MG Road. They are natives of West Bengal and were living in a rented house in Gopalappa Layout for the last eight months.
Around 7 pm, Trisha was playing outside her house. By 8 pm when Seema called her, Trisha was nowhere to be seen. Seema searched for   her daughter and enquired with the neighbours, but no one had seen her. She informed her husband and Vijay rushed home.

They went to the police station and registered a complaint. The police and the parents launched a search. It was 11 pm when they found Trisha’s body in a heap of garbage next to her house.

Her body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem and the doctors suspect that she was strangulated to death. “But the cause of death can be confirmed only after we receive the autopsy report. The doctors have also informed that there was no sexual assault,” said the police.

A case has been registered under Section 302 IPC and investigation is being carried out.
