Truecaller's TrueSDK for app developers

Last Updated 18 February 2016, 16:55 IST

Mobile telephone directory Truecaller on Thursday launched its software development kit TrueSDK in Bengaluru. TrueSDK enables third party apps onboard users based on their credentials that are already verified with Truecaller, thereby reducing the friction in user onboarding.

The solution has been launched in partnership with a dozen third party apps, including Quikr, Mobikwik, redBus, CarDekho, Oyo Rooms, FreshMenu, Terraa, and ShopClues, among others.

“The solution is like a combination of autofill and verification, the former being beneficial to the customer and the latter of great benefit to the vendor,” said Kari Krishnamurthy, Vice President of Growth and Planning for Asia, Middle East and Africa at Truecaller.

With 100 million active users in India, the company thought it was ideal to launch the SDK in Bengaluru, considering the presence of a large developer community here.

Moreover, “The SDK was given impetus by some users in Bengaluru, who specifically said they want it,” said Nami Zarringhalam, Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder of Truecaller. The free-to-use service is permission-based and requires minimal changes on the developer’s back-end.
