<p> Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chief Engineer Kemparamaiah has challenged the extension of service of the water board’s Engineer-in-Chief S Krishnappa in the High Court of Karnataka.</p>.<p><br />The petitioner has contended that Krishnappa has been granted extension of service for a period of three months despite the fact that his retirement was due on January 31, 2016. <br />The petitioner further argued that as per the BWSSB Cadre, Recruitment and Promotion Regulations, 2004, the post of engineer-in-chief should be filled by promotion from the cadre of chief engineers in the service of the Board. <br /><br />He had claimed that Krishnappa had been shown favouritism. He had sought the court to restrain the government from extending the services of Krishnappa. </p>
