Ad scam: Activist demands CBI probe

Last Updated 27 February 2016, 19:16 IST

Saidatta, the social activist who has filed a petition in the High Court against the illegal hoardings scam in the City, has demanded a CBI probe into the issue.

The social activist has said that a CID inquiry is yet to be initiated one month after the State government ordered the probe. “Fearing that a CID enquiry will expose mafia connections, BBMP officials have ordered for the removal of hoardings since the last one month without collecting penalty from those who have put up illegal hoardings. Due to removal of hoardings, there will be destruction of evidence. On the other hand, even a month after the government order, the CID has not yet initiated an enquiry into the illegal advertisement hoarding scam,” Saidatta said.

He said that the Assistant Commissioner (Advertisement), BBMP, has submitted his fifth report on illegal hoardings and non-collection of tax.

“The BBMP Commissioner has failed to handle one of the highest revenue generating wings of the corporation. The BBMP Commissioner should be transferred immediately and the State government should order a CBI investigation into the illegal advertisement mafia in the City,” he said.
