Centre has asked states to prepare an action plan with year-wise targets and specific locations for plants and solar rooftop panels.
With the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy setting a target of 175 GW of clean energy by 2022, the government is keen that states should not lag behind in their progress towards the goal. “I shall be grateful if you could issue suitable instructions for developing an action plan for achieving targets in respect of your state for the year 2022,” new and renewable energy secretary Upendra Tripathy said in his letter to state chief secretaries.
“The action plan may include year-wise targets for different renewable energy technologies up to the year 2022, year-wise targets for solar rooftop, year-wise RPO trajectory to the SERCs for notification to reach 17 per cent in the total energy mix by 2022 by including 8 per cent from solar,” Tripathy said.
