Inspired by Harish Nanjappa, who wanted his organs to be donated even when he was breathing his last after his body was severed in an accident near Nelamangala recently, hundreds of people from his village have pledged to donate their eyes.
A total of 182 residents from Belavada, the native place of Harish in Gubbi taluk, Tumakuru district went to Narayana Nethralaya, pledged to donate their eyes and submitted papers in this regard. It is the first time ever when people from the entire village came forward to pledge their eyes, he said.
