JOIN US A 25-year-old small-time television actor committed suicide at her friend’s house at Harohalli in Madanayanakanahalli, off Tumakuru Road, on Monday.
The police said Shruthi was found hanging in the bedroom of her friend, Srikanth. She was married to Umesh, an employee in a factory, for the past seven years. She had acted in a couple of Kannada television serials.
On Monday evening, Shruthi went to Srikanth’s house for dinner. After dinner, both of them quarrelled and Srikanth went out of the house. Shruthi went into the bedroom and hanged herself from the ceiling.
The incident came to light when Srikanth returned home. He informed the police, who shifted her body for postmortem, said the police.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Srikanth and Shruthi might have been in a relationship but it can be confirmed only after questioning Srikanth, a bachelor. Umesh and his family have alleged that Srikanth might have strangled her and then hanged her to make it look like a suicide. All angles are being looked into and investigating is being carried out,” said a senior police officer.
Based on a complaint lodged by Umesh, a case of abetment to suicide has been registered and Srikanth has been detained, the police said.
