Zicom Electronic Security Systems, which is in the business of electronic security systems, has now forayed into the B2C segment with the launch of its revitalised Ziman App for safety and security in the city on Thursday.

“We started our company way back in 1995, and for the past three years, we have been using internet as our business model. We have been catering to the B2B segment, and now with this new app, which is like a personal bodyguard in your mobile phone, we are eyeing the B2C segment,” said Pramoud Rao, MD at Zicom Electronic Security Systems.

Launched a couple of months ago, the app got more than 37,000 downloads. “We are revamping the app and introducing it in the Karnataka market, especially with additional safety features for women and children,” said Rao.

Once downloaded, in case of any emergency, Ziman helps with an emergency map that provides a list of emergency services located in the vicinity of the incident, apart from tracking the location.

Talking about the B2B segment, Rao said, “The turnover of the company is Rs 1,100 crore, and 60 per cent of its business comes from the Middle East. As far as the B2C segment is concerned, we believe the market will mature as we grow.”

“The safety application is designed in the most user-friendly manner to help people. We have a command centre in Mumbai, and plans are on to open a small disaster recovery centre in Bengaluru. Though the app is available at free-of-cost now, we are planning to introduce the service at Rs 499 per year and later at Rs 999 a year. We are very bullish about this new service in Bengaluru as the city hosts many IT and BPO companies,” he said.
