Reliance Jio launch likely to be delayed

The much-awaited launch of Reliance Jio is likely to be delayed till December, according to a latest report by IIFL Institutional Equities.

“Jio is likely to be in a position to use RCom’s 850MHz spectrum only towards December since RCom can do the spectrum sharing and trading deal with Jio only after obtaining alternate 850 through a merger with Sistema,” IIFL Institutional Equities said in the report.

For this merger, our assessment of timelines is as follows: by July, High Court approval for the merger scheme should be through, following which DoT may take another two months, and finally, after getting the spectrum from RCom, Jio will take another 2-3 months for network tuning, all-in-all getting to December for an 850-supported launch, the report states.
