Addressing the reporters after taking part in the State-level Krishi Mela on Friday at Kadur, he said that Government has failed to release funds to provide compensation for flood and drought victims of the State. “The Government has been saved by the funds from Centre and the funds raised from public for flood relief,” he said and added that law and order situation in the State too has deteriorated after BJP came to power in the State.

“Financial condition of the State is not all right but our ‘very rich CM’ cannot speak anything below crores. He can understand our demands only when we keep it forth in terms of crores,” he ridiculed and added that CM has been making different statements at different places. Deshpande said that whenever the opposition raises the load shedding issue, the Government brushes it off saying that it is not a new problem, while it has been there for many years and the present situation of electricity supply is due to the failures of the past governments. “The problems has cropped up now and has become so serious because of lack of vision and lack of co-ordination between the CM and his ministers. If Eshwarappa gives one statement, CM speaks contrary,” he opined.

He said that the Government spoke elaborately about various link ups to purchase electricity. Chattisgarh project was spoken so widely by this Government but all of these big claims have remained to be claims and could not proceed to be more than that. He opined that Eshwarappa stepped down from power ministry only because he understood that solving power crisis in the State was beyond his capability.

Former Union minister D K Taradevi Siddhartha, former minister C R Sagheer Ahmed, District Congress President M L Murthy and others were present.
