One more service launched

A populist initiative by B S Yeddyurappa and Transport Minister R Ashok, the new service named after the BJP’s first prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, has been introduced for the benefit of the economically weaker sections of the population.

Flagged off by the chief minister at the National College, Basavanagudi grounds, the service will offer a 50 percent reduction (Concessional Fare) on regular ticket prices.

The BMTC has introduced 25 new buses into this service, that will ply on 12 routes in the City at areas populated by economically weaker and working classes. Initially six routes have been introduced, followed by another six shortly.

The event also had on display a KSRTC Volvo (Airavata) and a BMTC Vajra Volvo buses that were flagged off by Yeddyurappa.  Nine ambulances of the Emergency Management and Research Institute's  108 service by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare were also flagged off.
