Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh expanded his political clan further on Sunday with one more member of the family making her political debut.

Mulayam’s younger daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav has been declared SP nominee from the Lucknow Cantonment Assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh for the next Assembly polls in the state, which were scheduled to be held early 2017.

Senior SP leader and Uttar pradesh Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav made this announcement here on Sunday.

Interestingly Aparna had been nominated from a seat from where the SP had never been victorious and was not considered to be a party bastion. Congress leader Reeta Bahuguna Joshi, who currently represented the seat in the Assembly, was a three time winner from there.
The SP nominee had finished a poor fourth in the 2012 Assembly elections and could secure only 13% votes.

The nomination of Aparna came as a surprise for even the SP leaders as she was known for speaking her mind on important issues and on many occasions her views were diametrically opposite to the line taken by the SP.
