A Legislative Council committee has recommended disciplinary action against the then Deputy Commissioner of Davangere district for unauthorisedly diverting funds released under the chief minister’s special development grants between 2008 and 2010.
The Committee on Local Bodies and Panchayat Raj, which was submitted in the Council on Wednesday, stated that the then chief minister had released Rs 100 crore special grants for seven city corporations, including Davangere. The then DC of the district diverted Rs 61.46 lakh, which was the interest on the grants, without authorisation.
The Comptroller and Auditor General of India had taken objection to this. The Council committee has agreed with the CAG findings and recommended action against the officer. The committee has not mentioned his name
