Latest equipment that will ease farm work on display

 The three-day ‘Agro-Tech Expo-2016’, organised by Karnataka State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) on the grounds, in front of Maharaja’s College, from Friday, is offering a variety of agriculture equipment to farmers that will ease farm work.

Modern equipment, ranging from heavy agriculture vehicles like tractors to multi-utility track vehicles (MUTV), are on display. Cycle Weeder, displayed by Raitha Samparka Kendra, Mysuru taluk, mini tractors, areca nut peeling machine, and power sprayers are the centre of attraction.

Besides, irrigation systems like sprinkler jets, land tilling equipment, tractor fitted with power sprayers, variety of saplings, aluminium ladders to climb trees, lateral taps, drip irrigation, grains drying and spreading machines, weed cutters, battery-run power sprayers are also on display.

Assistant Agriculture Officer at Raitha Samparka Kendra, Mysuru taluk, S V Kumbar said the cycle weeder costs Rs 2,000 but, the kendra sells it for Rs 1,000. The Horticulture department is offering 50 per cent subsidy, he said.

A majority of the products, including tractors and MUTV, are offered subsidy either by the Horticulture or Agriculture department. Agriculture equipment manufacturers and sellers from parts of the State have displayed their products.

The Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) district coordinating committee president Sudakara S Shetty said, the event was organised to bridge the gap between farmers, industries and technologies. The event provided a platform for farmers and business people.

As part of the expo, the KSSIA will provide financial aid to hundred families of farmers, who committed suicide owing to agriculture problems. Each family will be provided Rs 20,000.
