Post-poll violence claims 3 lives

The violence which started on Thursday during the third phase of the ongoing Assembly elections in West Bengal continued to spread to other places, resulting in the death of some political workers.

Three CPM workers were killed on Thursday, with few others injured in clashes during the third phase of six phase elections.

The bodies of  Sheikh Fazle Haq and Dukhiram Dal were recovered on Friday morning in Burdwan’s Khandaghosh constituency. The two were severely beaten up while returning home after poll duty on Thursday night, Superintendent of Police Gaurav Sharma said. No arrests have been made so far.

Another CPM worker Tahidul Mondal was killed in Domkal on Thursday during the polling process.

The Left leaders claimed that the Trinamool Congress was behind the killings.
The ruling dispensation refuted the charges and said that the CPM workers were killed in a clash between the Left and Congress workers.
