Modi's downfall in 2019 imminent, says Nitish

Last Updated 23 April 2016, 19:00 IST
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was formally elected as the national president of the JD(U) here on Saturday, launched a blistering attack on the BJP.

He also predicted that Narendra Modi’s downfall in 2019 was imminent. Ruling out himself for the country’s top executive post, Nitish, however, said he would work as a catalyst and unite all anti-BJP forces to give the country a Sangh-mukt (sans RSS) India.

Launching his tirade against the BJP and its parent organisation RSS for the first time after taking over as the JD(U) president, Nitish said, “Those who never participated in the freedom struggle are today distributing certificates on patriotism. I and you can differ with anyone on any issue but that does not mean you will brand someone anti-national who has a divergent view.”

Slamming his arch-rival Narendra Modi, Nitish said, “Those who rode to power by promising the moon should take a look what they have done in the last two years. Neither have they fulfilled their promise on black money, nor have they created jobs for crores of unemployed youths nor gave MSP (minimum support price) to the farmers. Now he talks of improving farmers’ earning by 2022. Arrey Bhai, you have been voted to power till 2019. Do something for them by 2019, and not misguide the country again by talking about 2022, as your (Modi) downfall in 2019 is imminent.”

He requested the media to not project him as “PM-material” nor ask other party leaders whether Nitish is a suitable candidate for PM’s post. “The one who becomes claimant for the top post never becomes PM. It is for the people to judge which leader can deliver. They have already seen the two years of NDA (Modi) rule at the Centre which failed to fulfil even one promise ,” said Nitish.
