Umashree, Minister for Kannada and Culture, Women and Child Development, directed the local officials to effectively implement the schemes of the government.

She was chairing a review meeting of her department at the deputy commissioner’s office hall in Chikkamagaluru on Saturday.

The minister reminded that the government has chalked out many programmes for the sake of women and children. The officials and staff of the concerned departments should implement these programmes effectively, by achieving coordination with other departments, she advised.

“The quality of supplementary food given in anganwadis should compulsorily be checked before distributing the food to children. But, it is found that this has not been undertaken properly,” she said and directed the department joint director to issue notices seeking explanation from the erring staff.

GPRS should be installed in the vehicles supplying food to the anganwadis, Umashree said. She further said that the government will supply creamy milk to children starting the current year. “It should be ensured that the children are getting fresh milk. Also, proper infrastructure should be ensured at anganwadis. Proper water supply and toilet facilities are the must,” she instructed.

Pointing out that the performance of the district in the implementation of schemes of her department is not good, Umashree directed the deputy commissioner and the zilla panchayat chief executive officer to conduct review meetings regularly.

Deputy Commissioner S P Shadakshariswamy, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr R Ragapriya, Women and Child Welfare department Deputy Director Basavarajappa were present during the meeting.
