Healthenablr India bets big on second opinion

Mumbai-based Healthenablr India, a telemedicine healthcare services company, aims to connect patients with doctors worldwide for second opinion consultancy, a top executive said.

Talking to Deccan Herald, Healthenablr, CEO and Co-founder Bamasish Paul said, “This feature is scheduled to be rolled out by June 2016, and we will begin second opinion consulting with doctors practicing in the US. The fees for second opinion consultancy will depend on the experience and specialisation of the doctors. That being said, it will range between $100-200.”

Paul further said, “Use of tele-health, specifically for second opinion is immense! Today, accessibility to international doctors who specialise in critical disease areas such as oncology, cardiology, and rheumatology is a big challenge. Unless we know such doctors in person, getting a second opinion is extremely difficult.”

Paul explained, “Using our mobile app poccare’s tele-health platform, patients in India can consult with a panel of international doctors in the US and South East Asia. Patients and their family can now share health records, clinical reports, blood investigation reports, with our panel of highly established and qualified doctors and get second opinion instantly.”

Healthenablr India, which was incorporated in September 2015, recently closed its seed round of funding at approximately $800,000 (Rs 5.5 crore). At present, the company has over 10,000 doctors verified and listed on its platform, and intends to bring this number up to 50,000 by the end of this year.

“One can consult a doctor through a video chat or phone call or a live web chat! That's the starting point. We do not just want to be a pre-dominating discovery platform. We want to be a one-stop solution for patients across the country. We have created healthcare packages which will be affordable and loaded with quick services,” Paul added.

Healthenablr has over 60 employees and has opened its first development centre outside the US in Bengaluru.

On the technology front, Paul said, “We have integrated an online payment wallet that enables patients to pre-pay for appointments and consultations digitally. Our platform also allows doctors and patients to order medication online using a digitally-generated prescription after consulting with any of the doctors on our platform. These capabilities make us the only one among our competitors to have an online wallet/online mode of payment for healthcare packages and doctor consults.”
