Security personnel deployed at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Durbar were taken aback when a youth hurled his footwear at the chief minister.

The slipper hit the chief minister, who was then going through an application. The youth identified as Nitish of Arwal was immediately taken into custody.

Forgiving the youth, the chief minister summoned him and asked him the reason for being angry. “Why have you imposed a ban on ‘yagna’ from 9 am to 6 pm?” the youth shouted, saying he was miffed over the recent diktat issued by the Disaster Management department not to cook food between 9 am and 6 pm in village areas, besides avoiding religious rituals like “yagna” during the same period.

The recent order by Disaster Management department was issued so as to prevent incidents of fire. Notably in April, 60 people were killed while 13,000 houses destroyed in different incidents of fire.
After listening to the youth patiently, the apprehended person was medically examined and is, at present, being interrogated at Sachiwalaya police station.

“This is the same person who had earlier thrown his footwear at former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi too during his (Sushil) Janata Durbar. That time, the youth’s grudge was why he had not been made an RSS pracharak so far,” a source told DH on Monday.
