The Banashankari police have arrested four persons for murdering a youth and dumping his body on a pavement near Kadirenahalli.

The arrested have been identified as Muniraju alias Huva, a history-sheeter with Banashankari police, Mubarak, Naveen and Varun. Two others, Shivakumar and Naveen alias Mammu, are absconding. Sachin Mondal, a resident of Vittal Nagar in Kumarswamy Layout, was stabbed to death by the accused in the early hours of Sunday.

During the interrogation of the accused, it was learnt that Mondal’s friend Shankar had lent Rs 15,000 to Satish, a resident of Bhavani Nagar. But Satish was dodging Shankar and failed to pay the money.

Shankar informed his friend Sachin and Shubhang about Satish not repaying the borrowed money. On Saturday night, the trio went to Satish's house and found that he was not at home. They waited for him to return. After a couple of hours, Mubarak, who stayed on the top floor of Satish’s house, asked them to leave the place and they indulged in a heated argument.

During the altercation, Shankar told Mubarak not to act too smart as they are associates of rowdy Tablet Ravi. Mubarak, who was a bitter rival of Ravi, thought of taking revenge and informed his friend Naveen, said the police. Naveen, along with his friends, rushed to the spot and started assaulting the trio.

In the melee, Mondal was stabbed to death, while Shankar and Shubhang fled the spot. They picked up Mondal who was already dead, dumped his body on the footpath and fled the spot. The police, who heard about the murder, went to the spot and upon enquiry, they learnt about the tiff and arrested the accused persons.
