Initially, the prayer was offered at Jamia Masjid under the guidance of Moulana Rashid Ahmed Nadwi.

Later, the MLA visited Anantheshwara, Chandramouleshwara and Sri Krishna temples. Paryaya Pejawar seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami performed special puja for rain.

The seer is also offering  special prayers from the past 15 days for rain in the temple. Bishop Rev Dr Jerald Isaac Lobo offered prayers at Mother of Sorrows Church.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said the rain lashing the district from Wednesday is not sufficient to increase the groundwater level.

On Thursday, the water level at Baje reservoir was 2.17 metre and it continued to be the same on Friday morning though the water was supplied for the city and adjacent gram panchayat.

The water level on Friday afternoon came down for 2.15 metre, he added.
