Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman A S Kiran Kumar, on Saturday advised engineering students to explore vast opportunities available in entrepreneurship.

Addressing the students at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering during ‘Farewell-2016’ for the final year students, Kumar said, “The engineering students should be aware of opportunities available in the realm, rather than looking for a career in multi-national companies (MNCs), as is the general trend among budding engineers.”

“Try hard to acquire knowledge. Until and unless you don’t try to acquire new skills, it is difficult to survive in this highly competitive world,” Kumar told students. He urged the students to focus on adopting technology, developing innovative ideas and also find solutions for specific problems faced by the society. Skills acquired by the students should be judicisouly used in mitigating problems. Skills and knowledge will be fruitful only when they are used for social causes, he added, and said science and technology has a great scope in future too.

Pointing out at developed countries, Kumar said, “Owing to efforts and hardwork put in by the people, the developed countries are reaping benefits. India also has a bright future, with sufficient labour to propel the country to top position.”

Speaking about innovations, he said, “ISRO always looks at deploying technology for development of the society. Now, the organisation is capable to develop its own Satellite Launch Vehicles (SLV) to provide solutions for various problems plaguing the country.”
Outgoing students D S Karthik, Soumyagowda, VinayashKri were among several other students who went nostalgic, recalling their days on campus.

Students who had excelled in Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master in Technology (MTech) were awarded with the certificates of appreciation.
