Interestingly, the e-mail was sent by 27-year-old Pune-based Beejal Rathore from Prachi Jain’s account after the address and the password were provided by Jain’s husband Mihir Mehta, DSP Jitendra Singh told reporters.
Tip-off
He said Mehta was having an affair with Rathore who has allegedly admitted to police that the London-based engineer provided her with the address and the password of Jain’s e-mail account.
In the e-mail, Rathore posing as Jain wrote to the British Visa Agency saying her father was forcibly sending her to London against her wishes, following which the agency cancelled her visa, DSP Jitendra Singh said. Mehta got married to Jain about nine months back, police said.
A case will be registered against Mihir Mehta in this regard under relevant sections of the IT Act and would be summoned for probe from London in the matter, Jitendra Singh added.
