Digvijay rakes up Batla House encounter issue again

Last Updated 25 May 2016, 19:42 IST
Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has stirred up a controversy with his claims that the 2008 Batla House encounter was fake prompting strong denials from erstwhile UPA ministers and the party.

Singh raised questions once again about the encounter in which two terrorists and a police officer were killed after an alleged Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence operative claimed in a video that he had fled Batla House just before the police raid.

“Batla House encounter was fake. I dare the BJP to go for a judicial probe. I still stand by my remarks on the encounter. I don’t know who is Bada Sajid or Chhota Sajid,” Singh said in Nagpur on Tuesday.

Congress spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala snubbed Singh by drawing the party line to the “senior leader” for whom the party had “deep regard”.
