A Bachelor of Computer Applications graduate has been arrested for stealing jewellery from aspiring models by Yelahanka New Town police.

The suspect has been identified as Arun Kumar, 33, a resident of Attur Layout. The police recovered a car, two gold chains, a camera, a tablet, a mobile phone, all valued at Rs 5.30 lakh, said the police.

Arun Kumar worked in a few companies after completing BCA. He had opened a Facebook account in his wife’s name and posted some content claiming that reputed firms were searching for models to endorse their products.

He would request aspiring models aged between 20 and 23 years to contact him and tell them he would pay them attractive packages for the photo shoot, said the police. Introducing himself as Rajiv Arun to the girls, he would engage them in conversations to convince them, added the police.

Kumar would direct girls to remove their jewellery as it would obstruct particular angles of the shoot. He would collect the jewellery, place them inside his car, come back and begin the shoot. Kumar would give some items to the girls, requesting them to hand over the items to his wife. He would flee as soon as the unsuspecting girls went in search of his wife, said the police.
